Setty

Setty (sometimes Shresti or Gupta) is an Indian surname used typically by the people belonging to the Arya Vysya community. They inhabit or hail from mainly Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Most of them speak Telugu and Kannada. They are historically known to be elite bankers, merchants or traders. They worship Vasavi (Kanyakamba). They are pure vegetarians unlike some of the other sub-communities of Vaishya community.

Setty is also used as a surname by some members of the Kapu and Padmashali castes of Andhra Pradesh.
