Servicios Aeronáuticos de Oriente
Servicios Aeronáuticos de Oriente SA de CV (abbreviated as SAOSA) was a Mexican airline which operated in the 1990s.[1]
History
The airline was formed in 1995 as result of the Mexican Airlines deregulation and started operations with 2 Boeing 727 and 2 Boeing 737-200 in October of that year.[2] The airline started flights to the US in August 1997 using A320 aircraft. The airline also started charter operations, and the next year started to operate to Cancún.[3] In 1999, the airline became the first Mexican operator of Boeing 737 Next Generation when ordered aircraft of the 800 series.[3]
The airline filed for bankruptcy in May 2002, but the bankruptcy was declared invalid in July later that year; however the airline did not resume operations due to the lack of investments, personnel and infrastructure. Aeromexico attempted to buy and rescue the airline in April 2003, but soon abandoned this plan.
