Sergej Milinković-Savić (Serbian Cyrillic: Сергеј Милинковић-Савић; born 27 February 1995) is a Serbian footballer who plays for Genk in the Belgian Pro League.
His younger brother Vanja is a professional goalkeeper. Sergej was born in Lerida, Spain, where his parents had moved to from Bečej before he was born.[1]
Club career
Vojvodina
Milinković-Savić was a product of Vojvodina's youth academy. He is one of the midfielders that emerged from the youth squad that won two national league titles in a row, along with Nebojša Kosović and Mijat Gaćinović. He signed his first professional contract with Vojvodina on 26 December 2012, penning a three-year deal.[2] On 23 November 2013, Milinković-Savić made his first team debut in a 3–0 away loss to Jagodina.[3]
Genk
On 18 June 2014, it was announced that Milinković-Savić signed for Genk on a five-year contract. He was given the number 20 for his Genk uniform.[4]
International career
Milinković-Savić represented Serbia at the 2013 UEFA Under-19 Championship, playing a full 90 minutes in 4 of 5 games, including a final match against France.[5]
