Coordinates: 13°26′N 16°40′W / 13.433°N 16.667°W Serekunda is the largest urban centre in The Gambia.[2]
Serekunda is known for its market, its silk cotton tree and its wrestling arena. The town's suburbs include the towns of Kanifing, Latrikunda, Sukuta and London Corner, and the town flows into the seaside resorts of Bakau, Fajara and Kotu.
