Senad Kreso (born 5 April 1955) is a Bosnian football manager and a former footballer who was recently the manager of Al-Oruba SC in the Oman Professional League.^[1]

Managerial career

Senad holds the UEFA A Licence, the second highest football coaching qualification. He has had a successful managerial career in various places across the globe at both the club and the national level like FK UNIS Vogošća, FK Mladost Župča, FK Sarajevo U-20 of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina U-19, Qadsia SC of Kuwait, Al-Merrikh SC of Sudan, Al-Raed and Al-Fateh SC of Saudi Arabia, Al-Ahli Club, Al-Najma, East Riffa Club, Busaiteen Club of Bahrain, Bahrain national under-23 football team and Bahrain national football team and Dhofar S.C.S.C., Majees SC and Al-Oruba SC of Oman.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

He has had a successful managerial career from 1982 to in SR Bosnia and Herzegovina with FK Sarajevo, FK Olimpic, FK UNIS Vogošća and Bosnia and Herzegovina national under-21 football team.

Al-Qadsia

He first moved out of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1999 to Kuwait where he was appointed as the manager of Qadsia SC.

Al-Merrikh

After spending one season at the Kuwait City-based club in 2000 he moved to North Africa where he was appointed as the manager of Sudan's most successful club Al-Merrikh SC. He led the club to win the 2000-2001 Sudan Premier League and 2001 Sudan Cup.

Al-Raed and Al-Fateh

He then moved to Saudi Arabia in 2001 where he was appointed as the manager of Al-Raed and later in the mid-season he was appointed as the manager of another Saudi Arabian club Al-Fateh SC.

Al-Ahli

His next move was to Bahrain in 2003 where he was appointed as the manager of Al-Ahli Club. He led the Manama-based club to win the Bahraini King's Cup in 2003.

Al-Muharraq

At the end of the season, he was appointed as the manager of Al-Muharraq SC. He helped the Muharraq-based club win the 2003–04 Bahraini Premier League.

Back to Al-Ahli

In 2004, he returned to Manama and was again appointed as the manager of Al-Ahli Club. This time he led the club to all three major titles of the Bahrain Football Association. Under the Bosnian manager, the club secured the second position in the 2005–06 Bahraini Premier League, achieved the runners-up place in Bahraini King's Cup in 2006 and also achieved the runners-up place in the 2005 Bahraini Crown Prince Cup.

Bahrain U-23 and Bahrain national team

After a two-years successful sting with both Al-Ahli Club and Al-Muharraq SC, the Bahrain Football Association appointed him as the manager of the Bahrain national under-23 football team. Looking at his success with the top clubs of Bahrain, the association appointed him as the manager of Bahrain national football team in 2007.^[2] His first major task was to lead the national team in the region's biggest football tournament, the 2007 Gulf Cup of Nations. He led the Bahraini side to the semi-finals but had to face a tough 1-0 loss against their opponents Oman.

Al-Najma

At the end of the season he was appointed as the manager of another Manama-based club Al-Najma. He led the club to a runners-up place in the 2008 Bahraini King's Cup.

Dhofar

In 2009, he moved to Oman and on 26 December 2009 he was appointed as the manager of Salalah-based club Dhofar S.C.S.C. He led the club to the second position in the 2009–10 Oman Mobile League and the finals of the 2009 Sultan Qaboos Cup. The club management was happy with the efforts of the Bosnian and as a result on 29 May 2009 he signed a contract extension with Dhofar S.C.S.C.^[3] This time he led the club to win the biggest and the most prestigious tournament of Oman, the 2011 Sultan Qaboos Cup. But after some disputes with the club management and due to some financial delays in December 2010, he decided to part company with the club.^[4]

East Riffa

On 29 January 2012, he moved back to Bahrain and signed a one-year contract with East Riffa Club.^[5]

Majees

Before the beginning of the inaugural season of the Oman Professional League on 13 August 2013 (2013-14 season) he was appointed as the manager of the newly promoted side Majees SC.^[6] But after some disputes with the club management and due to some financial delays he decided to part company with the Majees-based club.^[7]

Busaiteen

On 18 December 2013, he again signed a contract with a Bahrain-based club and this time it was Busaiteen Club. He led the club to the finals of the 2014 Bahraini King's Cup but unfortunately had to face a loss after his previously managed club, East Riffa scored a goal in extra time to lift the Bahraini King's Cup for the third time.^[8]

Al-Oruba

On 19 July 2014, he signed a one-year contract with another Omani club Al-Oruba SC. But after some disputes with the club management, he was sacked by the Sur-based club on 5 September 2014, some days before the beginning of the 2014–15 Oman Professional League.^[9]
