Reception

John Bush of AllMusic gave the album 4 and a half stars out of 5, saying: "It's experimental hip-hop being done on a level reached by few producers out there."[1] By contrast, Sam Chennault of Pitchfork Media said that "when his hand is too strong, and he attempts to place the noises within a more traditional song structure, it's an embarrassing failure."[4] Liane Cameron of Drowned in Sound called it "a unified effort, a dark sunshine storyline to brighten up your mood anytime."[3]
