Secret Original Soundtrack (Chinese: 不能說的祕密 電影原聲帶; pinyin: Bùnéng shuō de mìmì dian ying yuan sheng dai) is the soundtrack album for the 2007 Taiwanese romance film, Secret, directed and co-written by Jay Chou; starring Chou, Gwei Lun-mei, Anthony Wong and Alice Tzeng.
The album was produced by Chou, released on 13 August 2007 by JVR Music[1] and distributed by Sony Music Taiwan. It was released as a limited edition with a 100-page booklet containing 50 photos from the film.[2]
Album
The album contains 21 instrumental tracks composed or rearranged by Chou and Thai musician Terdsak Janpan and four theme songs, including "不能說的祕密" (Secret), a Brit-style rock ballad performed by Chou. The track "鬥琴" (Piano Duel Medley) was rearranged by Chou based on Chopin's Waltz in C-sharp minor and Étude Op. 10, No. 5 with an introduction by Zhan Yuhao. "The Swan" is a piano concerto performed by Chou and Evergreen Symphony Orchestra based on Le cygne, the 13th movement of The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns.
Several instrumental tracks were used as a basis for songs released in Chou's eighth album On the Run, "First Kiss" for "彩虹" (Rainbow) and "蒲公英的約定" (Dandelion's Promise) used the melodies of "小雨寫立可白Ⅰ" (Xiaoyu's Theme I) and "路小雨" (Lu Xiaoyu).
Reception
Secret was nominated for Best Original Score for Terdsak Janpan and Jay Chou; and "不能說的祕密" (Secret) won Best Original Song at the 44th Golden Horse Awards in 2007.[3] The song is also listed at number 2 on Hit Fm Taiwan's Hit Fm Annual Top 100 Singles Chart (Hit-Fm年度百首單曲) for 2007;[4] and won one of the Top 10 Songs of the Year at the 2008 HITO Radio Music Awards presented by Taiwanese radio station Hit FM.[5]
In 2008, the album was nominated for three awards at the 19th Golden Melody Awards, including Best Instrumental Album.[6] It won Best Instrumental Album Producer for Chou and Best Instrumental Composer for Chou and Terdsak Janpan for "琴房" (Piano Room).[7]
