Second St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Warwick
The second St Mary's Roman Catholic Church is a heritage-listed sandstone Catholic church, located on the corner of Palmerin and Wood Streets in Warwick in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia.
History
The first St Mary's church was opened in 1865, but eventually became too small for the needs of the congregation and a new church was planned at an adjacent site, with the old church to be used as a school building (and later as a meeting hall).
On 29 February 1920, the foundation stone of the second St Mary's church was laid by the Daniel Mannix, Archbishop of Melbourne, assisted by James Duhig Archbishop of Brisbane. [1][2]
Heritage listing
It was listed on the former Register of the National Estate.[1][3] and on the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992.[2]
