Second Presbyterian Church (Indianapolis, Indiana)
Second Presbyterian Church is a PC(USA) megachurch in Indianapolis, Indiana with 4,068 members in 2012.[1] In 2013 the congregation celebrated its 175th anniversary.[2] The church building located at 7700 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis.[3]
The Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis was organised on July 5, 1823, by Rev. Isaac Reed and David Proctor. It was handled by the Presbytery of Louisville, KY. The first church home was at Pennsylvania Street. The division of the church occurred, and 50 members led by Henry Ward Beecher. The original church become First Presbyterian and the seceder become Second Presbyterian.[4]
