Seatrade

Seatrade Communications Ltd is an international maritime media company. Established in 1970 by Themistocles Vokos,[1] Seatrade covers aspects of both the marine and cruise industry.

History

Seatrade Communications was founded by Themistocles Vokos in 1970. In the same year, the first issue of maritime magazine, Seatrade Magazine, was published; followed in 1997 by cruise counterpart, Seatrade Cruise Review. 1973 saw the launch of the Money and Ship conference; Seatrade's first conference. Various cruise and maritime events were later established.

In 1978, the Seatrade academy was established in Cambridge.

In 1991, Seatrade moved to its own building in Colchester, Seatrade House.

In 2000, the cruise industry news site, Seatrade Insider, was established.

In 2003, Chris Hayman was appointed chairman of Seatrade Communications.

In 2010, a pan-asian online newsletter, Seatrade Asia Week, was launched.

In 2013, the maritime industry news site, Seatrade Global, was launched,

In 2014, Seatrade Communications was acquired by UBM.[2]

Products

Publications

Seatrade publishes two quarterly magazines – Seatrade Magazine and Seatrade Cruise Review. In addition, the company produce a number of separate publications covering geographical areas, industry sectors and third party magazines.

Online news portals

Seatrade has two online news products for both its maritime and cruise interests – Seatrade Global and Seatrade Insider.

Events

Seatrade organises several events, forums and award ceremonies each year for both the cruise and maritime industry.

Training

The Seatrade Academy is a shipping-focused academy, set up by Seatrade in 1978 and runs in association with the Cambridge Academy of Transport. The academy has three shipping related courses; the Anatomy of Shipping, the Business of Shipping - Asia, and the Business of Shipping - UAE.
