Sean Macias

Sean Ernesto Macias (born 31 October 1972) is a Pasadena-based litigation lawyer known for handling high-profile cases. He is also the founder and managing partner of Macias Counsel Inc., a Los Angeles based law firm.^[1] Among the cases he has become known for are the malicious prosecution lawsuit against Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior by Los Angeles shop owners George and Marijeanne Antounian in 2008^[2] and the car accident suit against Crazy Town singer Seth Binzer in 2012.^[3] In 2011 Macias was called upon to provide expert commentary on the Michael Jackson case for CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight.^[4] In 2005 he worked as production attorney on the film, Quinceañera, which starred Jesse Garcia.^[5]

Biography

Born 31 October 1972, Sean Macias is the founder and managing partner of Macias Counsel Inc., a Los Angeles-based law firm that has earned a reputation as a litigation firm for high-stakes litigation.^[1] Macias was admitted to the State Bar of Indiana in 1997 and the State Bar of California in 1999. He received his Bachelor's Degree from California State University, Northridge in 1993 and his Juris doctorate from Indiana University School of Law in 1997. Lee Delano is godfather of Sean Macias.

Macias first worked at Kaye Scholer, LLP, a litigation firm with offices located in several US cities and in Shanghai. He left that firm to take on work as general counsel with an internet-based company. He dealt with a variety of legal issues including employee concerns and First Amendment issues. He then moved on to a similar general counsel position with an online credit card company. Subsequently he was accepted as partner at the law firm, Leader Kozmor Macias LLP, focusing primarily on copyright infringement matters. He later started his own practice, Macias Counsel, where he focuses on "litigation, intellectual property, business transactions and entertainment" law.^[6]

Legal career

Macias has also handled the $16 million copyright infringement suit of Ashley Gasper aka Jules Jordan^[7] and the wrongful termination suit by Andrew MacDonald against Ascent Media Group, LLC and its subsidiaries in 2010. Mr. Macias works with celebrity lawyer, Mark Geragos, and his law firm Geragos & Geragos in various civil litigation matters. ^[1][8]

In July 2012, Macias began handling the wrongful death suit brought by Joe Finley against LA landmark, Biltmore Hotel, for the death of his wife. Joe Finley, a contestant on America's Got Talent, alleged that the hotel destroyed evidence to cover up his wife's slaying in 2010.^[9] In 2013, Mr. Macias was successful in handling a conversion case dealing with the ownership rights of 12 Lamborghinis against VW Credit. In 2014, Mr. Macias also represented Studio Pali Fekete one of the leading and innovative architects in the world. In 2014, Mr. Macias along with Mark Geragos represented Adam Carolla regarding a dispute over the ownership of the Adam Carolla Podcast.

Membership

Macias is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Beverly Hills Bar Association, and is a representative for the Admissions Committee of the Indiana University School of Law.^[6]

Other ventures

Macías was the production attorney on the 2006 film Quinceañera.^[10] Mr. Macias was present at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, where Quinceañera won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the "Independent Film Competition: Dramatic category." Mr. Macias was general counsel of the famous White Lotus Night Club, Los Angeles, California.
