Screen Junkies is an online movie magazine and a YouTube channel focused on movies and television.[1] ScreenJunkies is owned and operated by Defy Media. It has three main shows: "The Screen Junkies Show," "Honest Trailers," and "Movie Fights."[2] The Screen Junkies Show is mostly interviews and movie discussion, Honest Trailers is a series of trailers that satirizes and parodies various movies/shows, and Movie Fights is a competition wherein guests debate various issues related to film. The host of The Screen Junkies Show is Hal Rudnick, the narrator of Honest Trailers is currently Jon Bailey, and the host of Movie Fights is Andy Signore. As of March 2015, Screen Junkies has over 4 million subscribers.[3]

Videos

Screen Junkies post three different web series: "Honest Trailers", which are uploaded on Tuesdays, "The Screen Junkies Show", which are uploaded on Thursdays, and "Movie Fights", which are uploaded on Sundays.

"Honest Trailers" is arguably the flagship show of Screen Junkies. The show is a series of parody trailers of films, and occasionally TV shows, that are made to satirize the film. These trailers often point out plot mistakes, and most "Honest Trailers" have given negative reviews of their subjects in a humorous way. Jon Bailey is the current narrator, replacing Gannon Nickell in 2012. They have also made Honest Trailers for the TV shows Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones.

The Screen Junkies Show covers a variety of topics in film and television. Some episodes include interviews with actors, "supercuts" (compilations), and information and updates on movies.[1] The Screen Junkies Show is hosted by Hal Rudnick, and was created by Andy Signore and Brett Weiner.

"Movie Fights", typically hosted by Signore, typically features debates between three other people outside of Screen Junkies, such as other YouTube reviewers, on various movie-related questions. Some "Movie Fights" feature people from Screen Junkies, such as Rudnick, Dan Murrell, and even Signore himself, in the debate. Each video's title highlights a specific debate about a recent event involving movies, such as the Oscars. The last question of each "Movie Fights" video, save a rare few, contain a clue to that week's "Honest Trailer" video.

Reception

As of March 2015, Screen Junkies has over 4 million subscribers, and over 708 million video views.[3] Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-director Joe Russo is an avid fan of the show and said that he aimed to make the movie "Honest Trailers-proof".[4]
