Screeching Weasel was the eponymously titled debut studio album by the American punk rock band Screeching Weasel. It was originally released with 27 tracks on September 10, 1987, through Underdog Records and licensed to What Goes On Records for release in the United Kingdom. The album was reissued on CD by VML Records in 1997 after remaining out of print for a decade. According to Ben Weasel's liner notes in the CD reissue, Underdog's pressing of 1,000 copies sold out in 3 months, but the label was not interested in re-pressing the album. In the liner notes to How to Make Enemies and Irritate People (1994), Weasel stated that the album was staying out of print for two reasons: "1. The original bass player wants too much money, and 2. It stinks something awful". However, the band finally authorized CD reissue in order to combat bootlegging (tracks 28-39 were added for the reissue). The song "Murder in the Brady House" was covered by The Queers on their My Old Man's a Fatso EP and was later featured on their compilation album Later Days and Better Lays. This is the only album to feature lyrics and lead vocals by guitar Jughead (on "Don't Touch My Car"). Two of the songs ("Wavin Gerbs" and "Raining Needles") have lyrics written by the person who introduced bassist Vinnie Bovine to the band.
