Scott Godin
Scott Edward Godin (born 1970) is a Canadian composer and pianist.
Career
Godin finished a Bachelor of Music degree in piano in 1993, studying with Helmut Brauss. He won the Johann Strauss Competition that same year, moving to Vienna, Austria to study with Paul Badura-Skoda. He completed a Doctoral Degree in Musical Composition in 2003 at McGill University. He won the 2007 Joseph Stauffer Prize for Composition. He has worked with composers such as Louis Andriessen, Nicholas Huber, Steve Martland, Martijn Padding, Denys Bouliane, and Michael Smetanin.[1]
He has seven compact disc releases: "PEP Volume 1," "Modern Hearts," "Expressions," "Devil's Dance," "Westwind," "bien serre," and "Soundland Alberta," the latter which reached number one in Atlanta's WREK FM heavy rotation list on 22 June 1997.[2] He has been Visiting Assistant Professor in Theory and Composition at both Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
