SchedMD LLC is an American software company providing an open-source software product to the enterprise software market. SchedMD was founded in 2010. Its corporate headquarters are in Livermore, California.
SchedMD has become associated with its enterprise workload management system Slurm.[1] SchedMD provides the workload manager, support, training and consulting services.
SchedMD is the largest contributor to Slurm.[2]
History
Slurm began development as a collaborative effort [3] primarily by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Linux NetworX, Hewlett-Packard and Groupe Bull as a Free Software resource manager in 2001. In 2010 Morris Jette and James Auble incorporated SchedMD LLC, to develop and market Slurm.
As of December 2013, SchedMD provides services to many National_labs, Universities, Corporations and Government agencies, including:

Business model
SchedMD partly operates on a professional open-source business model based on open source code, development within a community, professional quality assurance, and subscription-based customer support. They produce open-source code, so more programmers can make further adaptations and improvements.
SchedMD sells subscriptions for support, training and integration services. Customers pay a fixed price for unlimited access to services.
