Sayausi

Sayausi a green oasis located in the South Area of Ecuador. This area is close to the National Park of Cajas. Therefore, the area enjoys much of its treasures. The rivers of the area tend to contain the beauty of the Andes. The Andes is full of treasures and Sayausi proves it. Sayausi contains, lakes rivers, mountains, gardens, and plantations. Sayausi is a virgin paradise.

Crops

The traditional crops of Sayausi are corn, potatoes and some tropical fruits. The area is so close to the Colonial city of Cuenca that some of crops are sold on the many markets of the city. Farmers travel these distances to offer to the public a variety of vegetables and fruits.

Tourism

The area of Sayausi has been recently discover by investors. New hotels and restaurants are opening almost everywhere. Tourists enjoy the beautiful nature. Hotels now are not only opening in well known areas. Therefore, tourism has increased tremendously. In the 1990s this area was unknown, and not even the citizens of the City or Ecuador enjoyed it. It mostly due because of the private properties that existed at that time, but recently they have been sold to these investors.

Traditions

Traditions include from preparing the Inca chicha of Jora (a sour corn beverage) to preparing the national dish:cuy (roasted guinea pig). People of Sayausi are happy and respectful. They dance every type of music from San Juanitos to Salsa. Many of this people continue the tradition of wearing the costume of the "Cholas Cuencanas" (Mestizos in Native clothes), a unique clothing costume in South America.
