Saravanan Meenatchi is a Tamil drama serial directed by Azhagar. It is aired on weekdays on STAR Vijay.[1] It stars Radio Mirchi RJ Senthil, Sreeja, Rajasekhar and Kuyili in the lead roles.[2] The name of the serial is derived from the names of the characters of the serial 'Madurai' starring the same lead pair.[3] The Serial swept five awards namely 'Best Serial', 'Best Male Actor', 'Best Female Actor', 'Best Director' and 'Best Character Actor' at the 43rd annual awards function organized by Mylapore academy.[4] The lead pair Senthil Kumar and Sreeja Chandran were married on July 2, 2014 with the blessings of both families and their worldwide fans.senthil and sreeja won favourite actor award and favourite actress award in vijay television awards 2014 respectively.Saravanan Meenatchi Season 2 has been completely panned by critics and voted as the worst Vijay Tv serial along with Office.it It was a big disappointment this season and lost the respect of viewers.
Part II Their son Shakthi Saravanan (Irfan/ Vetri) comes to India in search of a bride like his mother. That's when his grand parents suggested Thanga Meenatchi (Rachitha) who is Meenatchi's brother, Tamilselvan's, daughter. He fell in love with her the moment he saw her. After that, they met at her friend's marriage where Meenatchi also started developing feelings for Saravanan. After that, without telling his real identity Saravanan stayed as a guest in her house. After a while Meenatchi fell in love with Saravanan. Meenakshi's father arranged engagement for Meenakshi with saravanaperumal(Kavin)aka Vettaiyan.Saravan after seeing his uncle's feelings over his mother(old meenakshi) leting meenakshi to marry Vettaiyan.After many curfew finally saravanan and meenakshi got engaged to each other without knowing his real identity. After Meenakshi came to know that Saravanan was her own nephew from canada while talking to saravana's mom through phone.Meanwhile,Vaidhi's future father-in-law revealed that saravanan was son of Thamizh's enemy old saravanan. Meenatchi got married to Vettaiyan. In later episode, Vettaiyan plays a Seat game with Marudu. Marudu cheats and wins the game where Vettaiyan loses the game and losses the money.

Production
The wedding sequences were shot in Coimbatore and Tirunelveli by hosting an event resembling a real wedding.
