Cast

Plot

BOSEPANDI/Saravanan(Raja Subbiah) is an ordinary-looking boy who imagines himself to be like his idol, famous actor Suriya. Because of his superiority complex, he rejects the attentions of the ordinary girls he meets, waiting instead for the beautiful girl he thinks he deserves.[5]

Production

BOSEPANDI / Saravanan Engira Surya has been filmed to emulate the style of Bhagyaraj, tuned to the taste of contemporary youth. It is not a routine dialogue based comedy film but a real time entertainer.. Cinematography is by Sankar.

The film has run into problems for using Suriya's name in the title.[3] Suriya's representatives have demanded that Raja Subbiah change the title of his film to remove the reference to Suriya (whose real name is Saravanan), fearing that the title might lead the public to assume that Suriya is involved with the film, which he is not.[3] Suriya's representatives have filed an objection with the Nadigar Sangam and the Film & Television Producers Guild of India, with whom the title is registered, claiming that no permission was sought by the producers of Saravanan Engira Surya to use Suriya's name.[3] Assuring that the story has nothing defaming about Suriya, Raja Subbiah says that changing the title will involve significant re-shooting. "The title aptly fits the story. We have created the scenes and dialogues keeping this title concept in mind. We have spent much of our time, money and energy working on this script, and creating publicity. Changing the title will mean that all these will go to waste," he explains. Raja Subbiah claims that he initially had another title for the film but while writing the script, he was inspired by a dialogue the hero says to change the title to Saravanan Engira Surya. We were well into the shoot when it dawned upon us that Suriya's actual name is also Saravanan," he says.[3] The disagreement that director Raja Subbiah had with actor Suriya over the title of the former's film, Saravanan Engira Surya seems to have come to an end with the director now choosing to rename his film as Bose Pandi.[6] After renaming his film Raja Subbiah has reshoot some portions and redubbed many portions to match the new title. As confirmed by Raja Subbiah, this has costed the Production Company few lakhs additionally apart from increased work load. Due to this increased work load, the film's release has been postponed. The Film is expected to release by April/May 2015.
