Sarah Mullally
Dame Sarah Elisabeth Mullally DBE (born 1962) is a British nurse and priest.
She began her career in nursing in 1984 at St Thomas' Hospital, having qualified from London South Bank University.[1]
She then held a number of nursing leadership roles including Director of Nursing at the Chelsea and Westminster and later Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In 1999 she was appointed as Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Patient Experience for England. She was the youngest person to hold these positions. She has also been a non-executive Director of the English Board of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.[2]
Mullally became a deacon in the Church of England in 2001 and a priest in 2002. She became an independent governor for London South Bank University in August 2005 and a non-executive director of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in November 2005.[3][4]
In 2005, she became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in recognition for her contribution to nursing and midwifery.[5]
Ordained ministry
Having been made a deacon in 2001 and ordained a priest in 2002, and having served as an assistant curate at St Saviour's, Battersea Fields since 2001,[6] Mullally left her post as Chief Nursing Officer in 2004.[7] In September 2006 she was installed as team rector of St Nicholas' Church in Sutton, London. In addition to her parish work, Mullally teaches ethics in the Diocese of Southwark, has an involvement in an Anglican clergy leadership programme and sits on the Church of England's Dioceses Commission. She is also vice-chair of the board of governors and chair of the policy and resources committee of London South Bank University.[8] In 2012 she was installed as canon treasurer in Salisbury Cathedral.[9]

She is married with a son and daughter.
