Santrampur is a city and a Tehsil in Panchmahal district in the Indian state of Gujarat.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Santrampur had a population of 15,781. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Santrampur has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 66%. In Santrampur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Princely State of Sant
Main article: Sant State
Before 1947, Santrampur was the seat of the princely state of Sant, which was merged with the Dominion of India on 10 June 1948. The state was ruled by the Hindu Parmar clan of Rajputs.[2]
