Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET) is an Institute of Technology with status Deemed University[2] in Longowal, Sangrur district, Punjab, India established by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.[3]

History

The institute was established by Ministry Of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Govt. of India in the year 1989 and was formally inaugurated on 20 December 1991 in the memory of the late Harchand Singh Longowal. The institute is an autonomous body controlled by SLIET society, and fully funded by Ministry of Human Resources & Development (MHRD), Govt. of India. It is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860.The first Annual Convocation was held in 1998.[4]

Admissions

The admission are based on Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) conducted across India. The admissions to the MTech programs are by the GATE exam conducted by the IITs and IISc. Admission to 3 year Integrated Certificate-Diploma (ICD) programme for Matriculate (10th Standard) will be made through All India Test (SET) conducted by SLIET Longowal.[5]
