Sankarpur is a census town under Andal police station,[1] of Durgapur subdivision in Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Sankarpur had a population of 5921. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sankarpur has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 51%. In Sankarpur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
