Sandra van Nieuwland (born in Delft on February 16, 1977), also known as Sandra Newland, is a Dutch singer who gained national popularity after her participation in the third season of The Voice of Holland.
Career
Van Nieuwland's first appearance in the ITunes-chartlists is in January 2012, with her first song "Love Revives Your Heart". In the same year, she participates in the third season of The Voice of Holland. During her Blind Audition, all four coaches turn their seats. She chooses Trijntje Oosterhuis. On the twenty-fourth of September, she wins a golden disc for her song "More", which she sang during her Blind Audition. During the first live show, van Nieuwland receives a platina award for "More", and becomes the first singer ever to receive an award during the competition. "More" also ends first in the Dutch Single Top 100. The song she sings during the first live show, "Keep Your Head Up", also ends first. By then, she is first and second in the Single Top 100 and becomes the first Dutch singer to do so. One week later, she destroys her record with "Beggin'", which ends up on the first place again. Her fourth number one hit comes again a week later, with "New Age". On the seventh of December 2012, Van Nieuwland is knocked out in the semi-finals by Leona Philippo, who turns out to be the eventual winner. During the final, van Nieuwland receives double platina for "More", platina for "Keep Your Head Up" and gold for both "Beggin'" and "New Age". At the same day, her single "Venus" is released. It immediately ends first in the Dutch iTunes Top 200 and at the twenty-first of december also in the Dutch iTunes Top 100. Van Nieuwland releases her album And More on the twentieth of September 2012 . It features some new songs and some of these end up in the charts too.
Her first single, "Hunter", was released on 10 August 2013. Together with her second one, "Always Alone", it would be on her second album, called Banging on the Doors of Love.
