Sandhole is an administrative division of Mandi district in the state of Himinchal Pradesh in Northern India. The terrain is hilly, but lies at a lower altitude (726 m) than other areas of this Himalayan state. It is bordered by Jaisinghpur to the north, Sujanpur Tira to the west, Sarkaghat to the south west.

About Sandhole

This Beautiful town is surrounded by gradually lowering hills from south-east to north west, while the river Beas flows from the east to west making this town the most beautiful apart from district Kangra. It is surrounded by hills in east and south directions while the in west The Baakar Khad flows which separates it from district Hamirpur. The Early People say Sandhole is the town having the boundary from Masaut Khad (Gardhar villlage) in east to Baakar Kahd in West, Koon Panchayat in south to the Sohar Panchayat in North.

Sandhole has an educated middle class and people converse in Mandyali, one of the Pahari languages of Himachal.[2]

Sandhole, is known for its warriors, the land of heroes, teachers, diplomats, sports persons, doctorates and royal people.

History

Sandhole tehsil was formed after the separation of Sarkaghat on 30 June 2011. There are two large plains which has grain fields and orchards, banking the River Beas. Known for its temples, worriers, bravery Sandhole is the home to a number of doctorates. On the Sainella hill, there is a new temple dedicated to Bhagwati Mata, overlooking the valley and giving a panoramic view of the whole town. The Beas valley is broad near Sandhole, but there are a number of striking vales such as those of Baakar and Masut Khad an Camp Wali Khad. A transit for visitors to Sarkaghat, Dharampur, Palampur, Awahdevi, etc., it is approachable from Sujanpur TIra(25 km or 1.6 mile), Sarkaghat (52 km or 3.4 miles) and Palampur (64 km or 4 miles). On either side of the road, there are rock hill sides rising perpendicularly to more than 300 metres (1,000 ft).
