Sanchong District (Chinese: 三重區; pinyin: Sānchóng Qū; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Sam-tiông-khu; or, Taiwanese colloquial: 三重埔 Saⁿ-tēng-po·) is an inner city district in the western part of New Taipei City, Taiwan. With an area of 16.32 km² and a population of 384,618 people (2003), it has the fourth highest population density in Taiwan and 23rd in the world,[1] with over 23,900 people per km².
History
Until the December 25, 2010 creation of New Taipei, Sanchong was itself a county-controlled city (Sānchóng Shì; Sam-tiông-chhī; Postal map spelling: Sanchung) in the former Taipei County.

Transportation
The district is served by the Taipei Metro Luzhou Line at Sanchong Elementary School and Sanhe Junior High School. The future Xinzhuang Line and Taoyuan Airport MRT will add an additional 5 stations to the district.
By road, the district is accessible by National Highway No. 1, the New Taipei City Bridge, Provincial Highway No. 1, and Provincial Highway No. 64.
