San Salvatore in Onda is a church in Rome, Italy. It is dedicated to Jesus, and is located on via dei Pettinari, in rione Regola.
History
A church at the site was present by the 12th century, and is mentioned in a bull by Pope Honorius II in 1127. The name onda derives from the frequent floods of the district by the Tiber river. The church and adjacent convent was ceded to the Franciscan Order in 1445, and in 1844, Pope Gregory XVI ceded the church to a new order organized by Vincenzo Pallotti. The church underwent reconstruction, including elevation, directed by Luca Carimini.
At the apse is a painting of Madonna and child (1878) by Cesare Mariani. The main altar also has the funerary urn of Pallotti. One of the lateral altars has an image donated by the blessed Elisabetta Sanna.
