San Damiano is a frazione of Brugherio, located in the far north of the City, the ancient center of San Damiano is coming from Brugherio on the right of the path of victory on the block between via St. Anna and Via Monte Grappa. The community has formed around a church and a monastery of San Damiano, dating from the ninth and eleventh centuries, both owned by the monastery of Saint Ambrose of Milan. It also belonged to the farm San Damiano which has been reported in a document dated 1280. It was the seat of the municipality until 1866. In the past here, as in all other places of Brugherio, the inhabitants were mostly farmers, even the remaining activities were somehow related to agriculture. In 1751 there were 71 inhabitants. Today there are only a few traces of a building with a park (Villa-Viganoni Benaglia, now demolished), while there is still the church of St. Anna, in a document called the chapel of San Damiano, perhaps because it stands on the site where he was the oratory which gave its name to the locality.[1]
