Samurai Shodown: The Motion Picture (SAMURAI SPIRITS 〜破天降魔の章〜 Samurai Spirits: Haten Gōma no Shō?) is an 1994 anime film based upon the 1993 SNK video game Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits). It was released by SNK in association with Fuji TV and NAS.
It was followed by a 2-episode sequel in 1999 entitled Samurai Spirits 2: Asura Zanmaden, which has not been adapted into English.
Plot
In 1637, Amakusa Shiro Tokisada was one of the seven holy warriors who have been chosen to guard the evil spirit Ambrosia. Betrayed by his people, Amakusa frees the spirit. Over 100 years later, six warriors try to stop him.

Reception
EGM2 called it a "ridiculously overblown anime," noting that "the story is as believable as some of the more ludicrous moves pulled off by the characters."[1]
