Sameura Dam (早明浦ダム Sameura-damu) is a dam on the Yoshino River in the island of Shikoku, Japan, completed in 1978.[1] It is the largest dam on Shikoku. Sameura Dam created a reservoir behind the dam, named Lake Sameura (さめうら湖 Sameura-ko).
The dam is used for hydropower, flood control, tap water, and irrigation. The hydropower plant can generate 42,000 kW.
1994 October Grumman A-6 Intruder training aircraft crash
- In October 14, 1994, a US Navy training plane Grumman A-6 Intruder, crashed into here, during low-level flight training in this place, miraculously, two people lives.
Water Supply crisis
- Sameura Dam is water supply to Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture and Tokushima Prefecture, and past of were out water crisis, following to large water intake stroke period.
