Sam Reid (born 19 February 1987) is an Australian actor.[2] He is best known for his work in Anonymous, Belle and The Railway Man.
Early life
Reid was born in rural New South Wales, Australia, where his father was a cattle farmer. His older brother is Rupert Reid, who is also an actor.[3] He attended Cranbrook School, a private boys school in Sydney. Upon completion of school, Reid briefly lived in New York City before moving to London to study acting.[4] In 2010, he graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art where he was awarded star student of his graduating class.[5]
Career
It was during his final semester at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, that he was given the opportunity to audition for a part in Anonymous. Despite not receiving a script prior to his audition, Reid was offered the role of Earl of Essex the next day.[6]
In 2012, Reid was cast in period drama Belle after actor Sam Claflin left the project due to scheduling conflicts.[5]
