Sam Apelbaum

Sam Apelbaum is a politician in Ontario, Canada. A lawyer[1] and real estate agent, he has been the leader of the Ontario Libertarian Party since 1996.[2][3]

Like many other members of the Libertarian Party, Apelbaum believes in reducing government participation in education and healthcare and widespread taxation reform,[4] and criticized the Progressive Conservative government of Mike Harris as being too statist in its policies.

The Ontario Libertarian Party is a small organization that was on the verge of collapsing when Apelbaum became leader in late 1996. He has stabilized its finances,[5] but has not managed to make a significant impression with the general voting public.[6]
