Salvatore Gambino (born 27 November 1983, Hagen, West Germany) is an Italian-German[1] footballer who plays for Trapani Calcio. Gambino plays in the midfield, but can play as a striker as well.

Career

Since 1996, Gambino has been playing for Borussia Dortmund, first with the C-juniors, later with the B-juniors, then the A-juniors and then the amateur team. He completed the 2003–04 season with twenty league appearances in the season. Due to injuries, in the 2004–05 season, he only played in ten league games for Dortmund. He is noted as a player with a good dribbling technique and is an exciting prospect for German football. Gambino transferred to 1. FC Köln in summer 2006 and joined after two years TuS Koblenz in June 2008, he was released on 24 June 2009 and joined on 3 September 2009 on trial to Rot-Weiss Ahlen.

He signed for then-fourth tier Italian club Trapani in January 2011, and played only ten games with no goals for the remaining games of the season. He was featured more regularly throughout the 2011–12 season, now in Lega Pro Prima Divisione: 32 games and nine goals.[2]
