Saint Louis University School for Professional Studies (SLU for Busy Adults) opened in 1963, and offers busy adults convenient access to academic and professional programs. Highlights of the School include online and evening classes, a flexible-accelerated schedule, affordable tuition and personalized programs. Professional Studies offers degrees, certificates and non-credit courses at its campus in St. Louis, Missouri.

Accreditation

Saint Louis University's accredited adult degree programs in St. Louis, Missouri are reviewed and evaluated by the Higher Learning Committee of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The HLC has been the continual accrediting body of Saint Louis University since 1916. Sharing a long history, part of the HLC's meticulous process to approve continued accreditation is that SLU must undergo and submit a comprehensive Self-Study every 10 years. SLU has been continuously accredited since 1916—most recently in 2012.

Bachelor's Degree Programs

Criminal Justice & Security Management

The online Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice & Security Management prepares students for careers in criminal justice or security management by bridging both fields into the program curriculum. Program coursework focuses on assumptions and theories, laws and technology, and practical investigative issues within the realities of the workplace and the criminal justice and private security environments. Education / Teacher Certification Programs

Saint Louis University School for Professional Studies provides three teacher training options, which can help students obtain their Missouri teacher certification and prepare them for a teaching career:

General Studies

The General Studies program is a multidisciplinary liberal arts program that allows students to study aspects of society and culture, increase their speaking and writing skills, and think critically. It is offered completely online as well as on-campus with evening classes available.

Organizational Studies

The Organizational Studies program focuses on leadership skills and corporate operations. Curriculum examines behavior at the individual, interpersonal/group, and organizational levels. Competencies are developed through project-based learning at the following levels:

Aeronautics: Aviation Management Concentration

Aviation Management degree program teaches students to manage airlines or direct corporate flight offices.

The program a partnership with Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. The student is first accepted into the School for Professional Studies, and upon completing a minimum 60 credit hours of core and leadership courses, the student transitions to the Department of Aviation Science at Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology to complete their aeronautics degree in Aviation Management.

Computer Information Systems

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS) is designed to prepare career-minded professionals for advanced studies or employment in the challenging and ever-changing field of computer science and IT. This Computer Information Systems degree program allows students to specialize in one of four tracks:

Nursing

The Nursing - RN to BSN program is designed to meet the needs of RNs who wish to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. This program is offered in partnership with the Saint Louis University School of Nursing and is available in an online and on-campus format.

Organizational Leadership & Technology

The Organizational Leadership & Technology (OLT) program combines an organizational leadership degree with information technology courses. Students learn to implement technology-related solutions for businesses and organizations.

Social Work

The Social Work program is designed to prepare students for their first generalist practice as a professional social worker. The program is a partnership between the School for Professional Studies and the Saint Louis University School of Social Work.

There are two areas of emphasis:

Upon completion of core courses, elective courses and two social work degree courses in the School for Professional Studies, students transfer and complete their Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) in the School of Social Work.

Contract Degree

This option is for the benefit of the student who wishes to develop an academic program which is unique and interdisciplinary in nature. Based on the student's educational and career goals, this option allows the student to create a program that is personalized and otherwise not available to them at SLU.

Contemporary Adult Spirituality

The online spirituality certificate courses provide opportunities to reflect and internalize the spiritual dimension of life experiences in every aspect of work, family, community and contemporary society.

Contract Management

The Contract Management certification program is designed to provide professional education in the field of contract management and administration. Students will gain knowledge and skills in procuring, negotiating, and administering contracts with suppliers, distributors, and end-product users.

Criminal Justice

The Criminal Justice minor and certificate program prepares students for leadership and management positions within any organization that has a need to minimize risks associated with criminal or terrorist activities.

Hospitality Management

The Hospitality Management certificate or minor is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in a variety of fields that make up the greater hospitality industry. This includes but is not limited to lodging, gaming, event, tourism and food service management.

Industrial Psychology
