Sacred Heart School is a Roman Catholic secondary School that is located in Redcar in England. The LEA that is in charge of the school is Redcar and Cleveland.

The school

The school was first built in the 1960s but moved to new premises in 2007. The current headteacher is Mrs Pat Hibbert.

Uniform

Uniform at Sacred Heart is compulsory. Students must wear their blazer at all times but can ask during a lesson to remove it. Girls wear black blazers, white blouses, house tie and black skirts or black trousers. If they wear a skirt they can wear black tights . Boys wear white shirts, black trousers and house tie. Badges are given to nominated students who are chosen as prefects, to be on the football team, athletics team or sometimes in other areas of speciality.

During Physical Education, girls wear a red polo shirt , black football socks, reversible rugby top optional and black shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Boys wear a reversible red and black rugby top , black football socks, red polo and black shorts or tracksuit bottoms.

Reputation

The school is successful in comparison to the other schools in the area. KS4 results have been in the top 5% of schools nationally in both 2008 and 2009. 87% of its pupils achieved five or more GCSE (or equivalent) grades at A*-C in 2009. The progress made by its pupils as measured by its CVA scores has been huge: in 2008 this was 1034 and in 2009 it was 1037. In September 2008 OFSTED reported that this was a good school with many outstanding features.
