STAR Sports is a cable network for showing sports-programmes, owned by STAR TV and Fox International Channels.

It is available in India, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other Asian territories.

The network is the official Asian station for the Barclays Premier League.

Between 1991 and 1993, the channel was known as Prime Sports.

On 1 January 2008, the logo was changed at midnight. The new logo's design is similar to those of STAR World (until 2010 with exception of India) and STAR Movies (until 2011 in selected Asian countries which were to be rebranded to FOX Movies Premium).

STAR Sports India re-branded and unified its channels with a brand new logo which came into effect from 5 November 2013 midnight onwards. By effect of that rebranding exercise STAR Sports became STAR Sports 1, STAR Cricket to STAR Sports 3, ESPN India to STAR Sports 4, STAR Cricket HD to STAR Sports HD1, and ESPN HD to STAR Sports HD2.[1]

STAR Sports in Southeast Asia is now Fox Sports 2.

On February 1, 2015, STAR Sports launched 2 new HD channels viz. STAR Sports HD3 and STAR Sports HD4. The new channels mirror the broadcast of their respective SD counterparts.
