SM City San Lazaro is a shopping mall owned and developed by SM Prime Holdings by Henry Sy, Sr. It is located in Santa Cruz, Manila, this is the 2nd SM Supermall in the City of Manila after SM City Manila which was opened on April 2000. This mall sits on what was the site of the former San Lazaro Hippodrome, a racetrack for horses.
History
Henry Sy bought a 4 hectare portion of the 16 hectare San Lazaro Hippodrome site, now the mixed-use San Lazaro Business and Tourism Park. SM City San Lazaro's opening on July 2005 was led by SM founder, Henry Sy himself, and graced by then Manila Mayor Lito Atienza. The mall has a total floor area of 178,516 m2 (1,921,530 sq ft). It features anchors SM Department Store, SM Supermarket, SM Food Court, Story Land, SM Cinemas, Surplus Shop and features anchors like Ace Hardware, SM Appliance Center, Watsons, Factory Sale Outlet, National Book Store, Super Bench and Bingo Gallery.
