History

F.C. Matera

Foundation

The club was founded in 2012 with the current name, after the acquisition of the sports title of Serie D club Irsinese Matera, based in Irsina[2] and therefore any continuity sports exists with F.C. Matera, the historical team of the city. In the 2012–13 season Matera finished 3rd in Serie D/H and in the next season they won promotion to the new Lega Pro as Girone H champions.
