S.K.D.A.V. Government Polytechnic, Rourkela is a state government polytechnic diploma engineering institution for both boys and girls, which was established in the year of 1967 by Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla who was the former Governor of Odisha at that time.
The Institute is affiliated to All India Council of Technical Education,New Delhi and State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training recognized under state government of Odisha.
History
S.K.D.A.V Government Polytechnic came to lime light when the management of Govt. of Odisha took the institution under its effect in the year of 1 April 1974, but later on in 1990 it was shifted to a new campus built by Government of Odisha.[1]
Though the contribution of Smt. Sushilavati Khosla is endeavored who was wife of Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla. As she donated about 1 lakh rupees to the D.A.V trust, in whose collaboration the D. A. V. trust started the S.K.D.A.V. Polytechnic For Women in Rourkela in 1967 To impart diploma education exclusively to girl students in the locality and around the state.
In the beginning, the institution imparted Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Library & Information Science. But later in 2001 and 2006 the institute started new branches of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Civil Engineering.

The Institute offer 3 year Diploma Engineering & office management in following branches of:

- Electrical Engineering
- Information Technology
- Modern Office Management
- Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
- Library & Information Science 2 year duration
The institute also imparts :
- Diploma in Industrial Safety for B.Tech, Diploma and B.Sc degree holders.
Admission procedure
The students are admitted through DET Orissa[2][3] National level entrance test.
Eligibility
- Student's of HSE or equivalent in CBSE, ICSE, CHSE and BSE.
- Student's of ITI can apply for lateral entry program.
