Sörnäinen (Finnish) or Sörnäs (Swedish) is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the central Helsinki districts of Sörnäinen and Kallio. When heading east, Sörnäinen is the last station that is actually underground - the eastern part of the metro service is mostly above ground (part of Vuosaari line is also underground)
The station was opened on 1 September 1984, designed by Jouko Kontio and Seppo Kilpiä. It is located 0.9 kilometres from Hakaniemi metro station, and 1.1 kilometres from Kalasatama metro station. The station is situated at a depth of 25 metres below ground level (3m below sea level).
