Ryszard Galla (born July 22, 1956 in Wrocław) is a Polish politician. He was elected to Sejm on September 25, 2005 getting 9072 votes in the 21st Opole district, and as of the 2011 parliamentary election is the only Sejm member from the German Minority (Polish: Mniejszość Niemiecka, German: Deutsche Minderheit) political party.

Censorship

In 2004, as Deputy President of Opole Province, he publically appealed for burning the entire run of the book Polsko-angielsko-niemiecki Glosariusz regionalny Województwa Opolskiego (The Polish-English-German Regional Glossary of Opole Province) by Tomasz Kamusella,[1] because alongside the Polish and Soviet view on the status of the Polish-German border in 1945-1992, also the Western Allies' and West Germany's interpretation of the frontier's status was indicated.[2] Due to this political pressure the publisher destroyed the aforesaid run of the publication,[3] and which is unprecedented in postcommunist Poland, the National Library of Poland, forbade any public access to the copy of this glossary in its holdings, between 2004 and 2012.[4]
