Russell Jan Pinney
Russell Jan Pinney, CLU, ChFC, CPCU (born December 11, 1946) is an American businessman who has been influential in the Life Insurance and Property/Casualty Insurance industries, as well as receiving national attention for various issues discussed during his tenure on the Roseville Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees.
Business Experience
- Russell Jan Pinney began his first life insurance agency—the R. Jan Pinney General Agency of Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company—in 1972. In 1975, it was incorporated as Pinney Insurance Center, Inc.[1] It is a life insurance brokerage general agency, servicing over 4,000 life insurance agents nationwide, and representing over 60 life insurance companies.[2]
- In 2002, Russell Jan Pinney created an online consumer-based life insurance website called Wholesale Insurance.[3] Pinney Wholesale Insurance Services, Inc. is a life insurance website where consumers can compare rates from various life insurance companies at the same time.
- LifeMark Partners: Russell Jan Pinney is a member of LifeMark Partners Board of Directors.[4] LifeMark Partners is a "single production source comprised nationally of 43 independent life brokerage agencies".[5]
Volunteer Business Experience
- National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA): Pinney served as President of NAIFA California from 2004-2005.[6]
- Russell Jan Pinney is a founder of the National Society of Agents for Consumer Education[7] and is currently the Chairman of the Life Insurance Board for NSACE.[8]
- Russell Jan Pinney is a member of The International Forum[9] and the Association For Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU).[10][11]
School Board Tenure
- Russell Jan Pinney was appointed to the Roseville Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees in 1995 to fill a vacant seat.[12] He was reelected in 1996,[13] 2000,[14] and 2004,[15] serving for 13 years straight on the school board. His current term is up in 2008.[16]
- Russell Jan Pinney voted against the controversial "Quality Science Education Policy," keeping anti-evolution theories from being taught (against State laws) in local high schools.[17]
- Russell Jan Pinney voted against allowing students to be released from school without parent's knowledge or consent for confidential medical treatments.[18]
Awards
- Russell Jan Pinney is a 30-year Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, as well as a member of Top of the Table. To be a member of Top of the Table you must distinguish yourself by "producing at a level six times that of MDRT membership requirements."[19]
