Rupert Seidenbusch (October 13, 1830 June 3, 1895) was the first Roman Catholic bishop of the Vicariate Apostolic of Northern Minnesota 1875-1888. He was also the first abbot of Saint John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Biography

Born in Munich, Germany, Seidenbusch was ordained a priest in the Benedictine order on June 22, 1853. On February 12, 1875, Pope Pius IX appointed Seidenbusch bishop of the Vicariate Apostolic of Northern Minnesota and he was ordained bishop on May 30, 1875. On October 18, 1888, he retired due to ill health.[1][2]
