Rubén Antonio González Medina, CMF (born February 9, 1949 in Santurce, Puerto Rico) is a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He is the third bishop of the Diocese of Caguas, Puerto Rico.
Biography
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, on February 9, 1949. In 1966 at 17 years of age was admitted to the Claretian Novitiate in Salvatierra, Álava, Spain. Professed his Temporary Vows in 1967. In 1972 professed his Perpetual Vows.
Studied, from 1969 to 1973, Philosophy and the first year of Theology in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, Spain and completed his studies in the Diocesan Seminary of Paso Ancho, Costa Rica.[1]
Ecclesiastical career
Bishop González was ordained a deacon on September 8, 1974, and a Claretian priest on his birthday in 1975.
Appointed Local Superior of the Claretian Missionaries of the Antilles in 1999.
Appointed bishop by Pope John Paul II on 12 December 12, 2000,[2] to succeed the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese, Monsignor Alvaro Corrada del Río, S.J., was ordained bishop by Cardinal Luis Aponte Martínez on February 4, 2001.[3]
