Roy Engel (September 13, 1913 – September 29, 1980) was an American television and film actor. Engel was born in New York, New York, United States.
Career
Engel appeared in 194 films and television programs between 1943 and 1977 and most of his films list him as uncredited. His first film was The Heat's On (1943) and his career ended with the Billy Wilder film Buddy Buddy (1981).
Engel's film credits include Confidence Girl (1952), The Band Wagon (1953), The Houston Story (1956), Spartacus (1960), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), and Viva Las Vegas (1964).
His television credits include You Are There (1953–57), Highway Patrol (1955), The Adventures of Jim Bowie (1957), Sheriff of Cochise (1956–57), The Walter Winchell File (1957), Cheyenne (1958), Alcoa Premiere (1962), and The Untouchables (1959–63),My Favorite Martian (1966). On Bonanza Engel had a semi-regular role as Virginia City's Doctor Paul Martin and in The Wild Wild West he had a recurring role as President Ulysses S. Grant. Also, The Andy Griffith Show episode "Andy And The New Mayor" which aired Oct. 15 1962.
