Rossi Motoriduttori (English: Rossi Gearmotors and often shortened to Rossi) is a Italian manufacturing company founded by Gilio Rossi in 1953 and currently a subsidiary of Habasit Holding AG. The company specializes in medium to heavy duty gearboxes but also manufacturers small gear boxes such as worm drives, servomotors, and planetary gear drives. In the early 2000s Rossi saw major expansion of its markets and today has facilities on 7 continents and 16 countries, including India, South Africa, and The United States

1953, Rossi Motoriduttori founded in Modena, Italy by Gilio Rossi.[1]

1980, Rossi develops gearboxes and geared motors with universal mounting screws, modular casings, and ZI involute profiles. Implementation of a flexible system for processing and extends the organization of overseas sales through the establishment of subsidiaries in Germany, Great Britain, France, and Spain.

1990, Standardizes gearboxes and geared motors in both parallel and orthogonal axes with universal mounting frame and monobloc casings. At the time Rossi becomes the largest producer of power transmission in Italy. Becomes the second gear manufacturer in Europe to achieve ISO 9001 certification.

1991, Development of a low-noise brake motor and industrialization of independent cooling for electric motors.

1994, Rossi becomes the first company in its field in Europe to offer 3 years warranty. Sales and assembly facility opened in Perth, Australia. Rossi acquires SEIMEC Electric motors division.

1997, Rossi acquires Siemec engine division

2002, Purchase of SMEI planetary gearbox division in Lecce, Italy

2003, Achieves ISO 9001 certification worldwide.

2004, Assembly and sales facility opened in Suwanee, Georgia, United States. Habasit Holding acquires a significant portion of Rossi under developing growth strategy.

2009, Habasit Holding becomes 100% owner of Rossi Motoriduttori.

2010, Change in logo and name of the company from "Rossi Motoriduttori" to "Rossi SpA"
