Ronnie Kerr (born March 30, 1974) is an American actor, best known for playing the role of Romeo in The Army Show and writing, producing and acting in his own movie "Shut up and Kiss Me" in 2010.[1] He also has starred in many other films. He also has worked as a personal trainer to several celebrity clients. His first TV role was in NYPD Blue in 2001, this then lead onto various other film and TV roles.[2]

Before being an actor, he was a doorman, bartender, tennis coach, cashier and a waiter.[2]

He was born Ronald George Smith III in Pompton Plains, New Jersey. He went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma with a full tennis scholarship but then injured his ankle. While rehabilitating, he started using the gym more frequently and carried on fitness training.[2]

He is gay and was out to his friends and family. He is quoted in an interview in February 2008 as saying,

My friends and family were very accepting and loving and I felt lucky to grow up in a small town that happened to have a gay bar. I know a lot of young men and women who are gay and are growing up completely isolated from any gay life, so it becomes hard to find things to identify with[2]

But he was then outed in public in July 2007, when he was spotted in a Chicago gay bar with newly-out basketball player John Amaechi.[3]

Career

He moved to Los Angeles in 1996, to act in his first action film "Absolute Aggression" (also starring Robert Davi), which then led to other films.

As well as an actor, he has been a personal trainer to Julie Benz, Rebecca Gayheart, Eliza Dushku, Al Santos, Sean Patrick Flannery, and Andy Milonakis.[2]

In 2006, he appeared on the cover of the book "The Superhero's Closet" by H. Andrew Lynch.[4]

In 2007, he moved from LA to Denver, Colorado, where he became the Director of Operations and Marketing for Genesis Fitness.[2] He was still acting and appeared in the third (and final) series of The Ultimate Coyote Ugly Search.[2] when he started working on a web series called 'Flab2Fab!' in which he trained gym clients.[5]

In 2008, he wrote a fitness column for the Canadian abOUT Magazine, before it closed in 2010/2011.[6]

In 2011, he moved to San Diego, as many of his friends had already moved there.[7] He then formed his own production company, Kerrdog Productions.[7] Also in 2011, he started production on two new feature films, “Gym Bunnies”, a comedy about gay men at the gym, and “Safe Word,” a thriller set in San Diego.[7]

In 2014, he is working on a new web series "Stripping It All Away", a docu-reality series focusing on the lives of gay men, with Aaron Heier .[8][9]

He was voted one of the top three trainers in Denver, Colorado by Mile High Sports Magazine and voted one of top two trainers in Dallas, Texas by the Dallas Voice.
