Ronne Troup (born June 10, 1945 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania) is an American actress best known for her 1970–72 role as "Polly Williams Douglas" on the long-running sitcom My Three Sons.
Biography
Troup is the daughter of musician/actor Bobby Troup, and his first wife, Cynthia Hare.[1] She has a sister, Cynnie, a television script supervisor who was born in 1943. She has been married twice and has two adult daughters, Bridget and Jamie. Ronne is also the stepdaughter of actress/singer Julie London.[2]
Career
In 1964, Troup was working as a television background extra appearing (uncredited) in some fourth season black-and-white episodes of My Three Sons in classroom scenes featuring co-star Don Grady. She later worked as an uncredited extra in classroom scenes on Gidget (1965).
In 1966, she made her film debut as part of the all-girl ensemble in Columbia Films' The Trouble with Angels where she is prominent in the graduation scene.
In 1967 (at age 22), she was cast as Sister Bertrille and had begun filming the pilot for Columbia/Screen Gems' The Flying Nun when she was dropped after the studio's first choice Sally Field finally agreed to accept the role.
In 1968, she played the role of "Leslie Hayden" in Danger Island, the cliffhanger serial that was featured on the Banana Splits Adventure Hour children's program on Saturday mornings.
She appeared on Family Affair in 1970 (opposite former college classmate Kathy Garver) as Cissy's friend Helen, who accompanies her on a trip to a snow carnival when Cissy was supposed to babysit Buffy and Jody in the episode "Desert Isle: Manhattan Style." From this performance, Virginia Martindale, casting director for Don Fedderson Productions, offered her the role of Polly Williams Douglas, wife of Chip Douglas on My Three Sons, a role she played for two years (1970-72), opposite Fred MacMurray and London's best friend, Beverly Garland.
She then appeared often on popular dramas Emergency! (in which her stepmother and father co-starred), Marcus Welby, M.D., S.W.A.T. and Adam-12. From 1987 to 1990, she portrayed "Barbara" on the CBS show Knots Landing.
In more recent years, Troup has appeared in guest roles on The West Wing and Cold Case.[3]
On June 19, 2010, Troup appeared with her My Three Sons co-stars at a 50th anniversary celebration of the classic series at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. Stanley Livingston, who played her husband Chip Douglas on the series, had not seen her since 1977.[4][5][6]
