Ron Shalom Galperin is an American politician and lawyer. He is City Controller of Los Angeles, and took office on July 1, 2013.[1] He defeated three-term LA city councilman, Dennis Zine and is the first openly gay person elected to a city-wide position in Los Angeles.[2]
Galperin attended Washington University in St. Louis for his undergraduate degree and Loyola Law School for his law degree (J.D.).[3] Galperin was admitted to the State Bar of California on December 12, 1994.[3]
Personal life
He is married to Zach Shapiro, the rabbi of Temple Akiba in Culver City.[2]
