Romantic Encounters with Melinda Hill is a 2012–2013 comedy web series based on the comedy of Melinda Hill[1] and broadcast on My Damn Channel,[2] Chuckler, and FunnyOrDie. The series is produced by Meetinghouse Productions[2] and partially crowd-funded by Kickstarter users.[3]

Hill stars as the protagonist, Melinda.[4] Throughout the series, Melinda goes on a series of "awkward" dates with deeply flawed men[5] played by guest stars including T.J. Miller, Kirk Fox,[1] Bryan Callen, Steve Little, Carlos Alazraqui, Dana Gould, Drew Droege,[2] and Taylor Negron.[6] Scott Shriner (Weezer) and his wife Jillian Lauren also appear.[4]

Indiewire's Aymar Jean Christian praised Romantic Encounters "for showing the rom-com renaissance isn’t limited to network sitcoms," and Examiner's Melissa Berry compared the series to the films of Woody Allen and Judd Apatow. Berry also compared Hill's and Franklin's style and work ethic to those of Louis CK, writing that "they wear all the hats."[7]

Romantic Encounters with Melinda Hill was awarded for “outstanding achievement in writing and acting” at the 2014 LA Web Fest,[8] was nominated for a 2013 LA Weekly award for "best comedy series," and was an IndieWire Critic's Pick for "best comedy web series."[9]
