The Romanian Rugby Federation (Romanian: Federaţia Română de Rugby) is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in Romania.

It is registered with the IRB under their English name and only use their Romanian name inside Romania.

They have 7,000 members and 80 clubs.

History

It was formed in 1931 and were founder members of the Federation Internationale de Rugby Amateur.

It became affiliated to the International Rugby Board in 1987 when Romania were invited to take part in the inaugural World Cup.

Octavian Morariu won the election for the presidency of the F.R.R, and he and his team started the reconstruction of Romanian rugby union. He left the F.R.R to become the President of the Romanian Olympic Committee (COSR). Morariu was replaced at the helm by George Straton, one of his closest associates. The current president of F.R.R is Alin Petrache
